Congratulations on your beautiful new arrival
Your newborn session is designed to be a calm, gentle experience where you can slow down, relax, and simply enjoy your baby while I capture this incredibly special season for your family.
This guide will help you feel fully prepared so your session feels easy, comfortable, and stress-free.
When Does the Session Take Place?
Newborn sessions are typically photographed when baby is 5–21 days old.
During this time babies are:
- Sleepier
- Naturally curled
- More comfortable being gently posed
That said, babies arrive on their own schedule, so flexibility is always built in.
Once baby arrives, simply send me a message and we will confirm your session date.
What To Expect
Your session is completely baby-led. There is no rush and no pressure.
We allow plenty of time for:
- Feeding
- Settling
- Cuddles
- Nappy changes
- Breaks whenever needed
Sessions usually last around 3 hours, allowing a relaxed pace so everyone feels comfortable.
The studio is kept warm, calm, and quiet to help baby sleep peacefully.
Preparing Baby
These small steps help create a smooth session:
Before you leave home:
- Feed baby just before leaving or upon arrival at the studio
- Dress baby in a simple zip or button onesie with nothing else underneath (easy to remove without waking)
- use blankets on top of the carseat to keep baby warm whilst travelling
- Avoid tight clothing or socks that leave marks on skin
- Try to keep baby awake for an hour before coming if possible
Don’t worry if baby is unsettled. Years of newborn experience means I work gently with whatever baby needs on the day.

Studio Environment
My studio is a warm, welcoming space created inside the spare bedroom of our family home. Many families tell me it feels calm, cosy, and relaxed, which is exactly the atmosphere I aim to create for you and your baby. Because this is a home-based studio and the space is quite small, I kindly ask that only those being photographed attend the session. Please avoid bringing additional visitors or support people who are not part of the photoshoot, as space is limited and this helps keep the environment peaceful and comfortable for everyone. To respect the privacy of my family members, I also ask that clients remain within the studio area during their visit and avoid wandering through other areas of the home. Thank you so much for helping maintain a calm, safe, and respectful space for all families who visit 🤍
The studio is intentionally designed to feel calm and welcoming:
- Warm temperature for baby’s comfort
- Gentle white noise
- Soft natural tones
- Seating for parents
Many parents use this time to rest, scroll their phones, or simply watch their baby being photographed.
You are welcome to relax.
What NOT To Worry About
Please let go of the pressure to have everything perfect.
- Baby feeding often
Baby needing cuddles
- Skin flakes, milk spots, or newborn features
- Crying or unsettled moments
- Arriving tired or overwhelmed
All of this is completely normal and expected.
Safety Comes First
Your baby’s safety and comfort are always my highest priority.
- All posing is gentle and supported
- Baby is never forced into positions
- Breaks happen whenever needed
- Hygiene and sanitisation are maintained at all times
Health
Your newborn’s safety is incredibly important to me. If you are feeling unwell, has cold or flu symptoms, a fever, cough, stomach bug etc please let me know and I will happily postpone your session. Newborn immune systems are still developing, so rescheduling is always the safest option and there is absolutely no penalty or stress in doing so. I will always extend the same courtesy to you. If I am unwell, I will reschedule your session to help keep your baby safe.
Thank you so much for helping maintain a calm, safe, and respectful space for all families who visit 🤍
A Gentle Reminder
These tiny details change so quickly.
The curled fingers. The sleepy stretches. The way your baby fits perfectly in your arms.
Newborn photography is not about perfection. It’s about remembering the beginning of your story together.
All you need to do is arrive, breathe, and love your baby.
I will take care of the rest 🤍
